SOUTH INDIAN HERO NITHIN IN RAM GOPAL VERMA NEW FILM "AGYAAT"

Though he hasn't got any recent big hits we can say he's lucky to bag a Bollywood offer that too in  Ram Gopal Verma's film. Nisha kothari plays the lead femle character.

Nithin is hoping that this would give him the much needed break that he is looking for and let us hope he does manage to score a hit there.
Story Idea:
A film unit on a shoot in a far away land and in a certain situation gets trapped deep in a forest and one by one the members start getting killed. They all are terrified not knowing whether it is a man or an animal or a creature or what?
Why I selected a film unit to be the protagonists for this story is because a film unit is literally like a walking office in terms of its various hierarchical elements.
A star who is obsessed with himself, a leading lady who bears with him because of his stardom, a director who thinks he will be the next Steven Spielberg, a producer who thinks that the director is screwing up his film, an assistant director who has a crush on the heroine, a script girl who has quite a few things for the assistant director, a frustrated action director who has a hidden maniacal streak in him, a highly subservient spot boy with a very perverted agenda, are just a few of the assorted characters in this story.
Whatever the entity is as it hunts them down, their suppressed passions come forth and they realize that it is not only their lives they are fighting for but it is also for their loves. As they are killed one after the other the remaining desperate characters struggle to survive the entity which is not visible to them, faster than them, smarter than them and hell bent on destroying them.
The film will be very near to a reality show in a certain sense as in putting a set of people in a certain situation and to see what happens to them.
It will have a cast of unknown or little known actors based on the complete suitability of the way the characters are written in the script.
The entity in the film is really a premise and what really is exciting for me in the story is the human drama of how in a given situation the whole film unit’s hierarchical differences get erased and all of them become as human as anybody else when faced with death.
To capture how their attitudes, personalities and inter-relationships change rapidly in the face of the impending danger is what for me is the most exciting and challenging part.
I am intending to start the film in December and finish the principal photography by January 1st week. There will be quite a lot of Special EFX work after that which will take as long as is required to get the intended effect. The movie will be ready for release in May/June 2009.
The idea from ram gopal verma blog: http://rgvarma.spaces.live.com/

Bollywood's Anil Kapoor to star in TV's '24'

After the huge success of Slumdog Millionaire, in which he acted as a game show host, actor Anil Kapoor is now gearing up for a different role in an American TV show 24.
Kapoor, who won critical acclaim as a game show host in the multiple Oscar-winning film, will have a regular role as a Middle Eastern leader in the eighth season of the thriller, Variety magazine reported. The show will mark Kapoor's debut on American television.
The actor has reportedly clinched the deal with ICM and is all set to star as a leader, who comes to the US for a peacekeeping mission.
Kapoor played Prem Kumar, the host of Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, in Slumdog Millionaire.

Rajinikanth in dual role in Endhiran

Endhiran the  most ambitious project by Rajinikanth and Shankar shooting is reportedly progressing at a very rapid place.According to sources the superstar plays a double role in the movie. One role is of a young robotics scientist from India and the other is of a robot. Here are some of the leaked images of Rajinikanth as a robot in the upcoming film.He appears very young but looks different in the images.
Recently talks are being with SUN studios and HBO to release the picture on a large scale with english subtitles across the globe. The film's budget is expected to be about 120 crores.
The film was unable to keep its name, Robot, due to the English title in Tamil Nadu whose government present tax exemption to films with Tamil titles. The film's scripting is going on as told by Shankar in two interviews. It was subsequently announced that all those who have been committed for Robot should sign an agreement accepting that they will not commit themselves to any other project for the next two years of its production, with an exemption to the female lead,Aishwarya Rai.

Is Anushka replacing Parvathi Melton?

The long awaited film ‘Varudu’ starring Mahesh Babu to be directed by Trivikram Srinivas is finally set to start rolling from 18th this month. Singanamala Ramesh produces the film on Kanakarathna Movies banner.

Again, a new hurdle is one the way for the crew. Parvathi Melton was decided upon to play the heroine earlier but a change might occur in the cast, says reliable sources. Anushka might step in to Parvathi’s shoes and play the main heroine. The script has space for one more heroine who is yet to be finalized. ‘Varudu’ will most probably be the confirmed title and during initial stages of shooting action scene will be shot choreographed by stunt master VT Vijayan.

With surmounting expectations after Mahesh – Trivikram’s ‘Athadu’, this upcoming film is being made with a view to appeal the mass. Filming will be carried out in the locales of Hyderabad, Rajasthan, Nasik and South Africa.

Anushka With Mahesh Babu In Varudu

The long awaited film of Mahesh Babu, tentatively titled as Varudu, directed by Trivikram Srinivas is finally going on to floors on February 18, but without Parvathi Melton.

Parvathi was announced as the female lead for the film, but the shooting of the film was delayed by almost 6 months. It is reported that Parvathi’s mother met with an accident and she had to go to take care of her mother and so dropped herself from the project

According to reports, Ileana and Nayantara were contacted and talks are on with Anushka, whose film Arundhathi is breaking all box office records. Anushka is now shooting for Prabhas’ Billa and said to be the most ikely candidate to replace Parvathi Melton in Mahesh Babu’s.

Bikini Priyamani In Men's Hostels

If you are curious to know as to who is the hottest heroine in the state right now then it is not the popularity charts or the ratings that you must check, the best place to know the real situation is to get to the men's hostels and you will know for yourself as to who is the ruling queen of hearts.

As per the latest reports, it is said that the hottest babe in the circuit is none other than buxom beauty Priyamani and ever since she has donned the role of a girl in bikini for her forthcoming venture 'Drona', her heat seems to have caught up with many of the men's hostels in the state.

Till sometime back, it was Anushka and Priyamani who has already revealed her oomph through the stills of the wet song that she has done with Nithin has overtaken all and has reserved her place. The inside experts say that it will be a while before her place might be taken by someone else

Kamal Hassan makes Trisha wait for a month

Kamal Hassan has announced and is busy with his Bollywood film” A Wednesday” remake in Tamil and will shoot for the film for almost three months in a stretch. The shooting date is yet to be confirmed, while Mohanlal will play the police cop character in this film.

The movie will also have screen space for actress Shriya and Padmapriya and may also rope in another actress from south. But after shelving the magnum opus “Marmayogi” it is said that Kamal is not in contact with Trisha and so the petite beauty is miffed a bit with the kollywood stalwart.

It is reported that Trisha is eagerly waiting for a call from Kamal Hassan to play a small portion in the Hindi remake which is in the making in Tamil. But Kamal is said to be thinking to starts his Marmayogi soon and so wants to keep the dates of 200 for that film only.

Kamal made a call to Trisha on this issue last week and asked her to be patient as his shelved project Marmayogi is soon going to be taken up from March 15th. He also informed her that she will have no role in his latest Hindi remake.

Asin! Are you trying to scare our little Jiah

B'wood actresses cool about sex!

Do you touch yourself? Dev (Abhay Deol) asks his childhood sweetheart Paro (Mahie Gill). She nods and curls her toes. Is it a situation women recognise? Dev D, Anurag Kashyap’s new movie, seems to be altering the portrayal of the Bollywood heroine — from sex symbol to sexually aware woman. But is it a trend or a one-off attempt?

According to Mahie Gill, Indian cinema is changing fast and portraying a woman as sexually alive is becoming acceptable. Audiences have matured alongside, she says. “In Punjab, where many men work abroad, the women loved my character and they could relate to her,” says Mahi.

Top 10 Worst Bollywood Movies of 2008

It’s that time of the year when we bring the Best and the Worst of Bollywood.

Here is BollyNewz Top 10 Worst Bollywood Movies of 2008

1. Drona

drona

I have no idea why such a movie was made in the first place. The movie failed in all departments, but one – We got see the first superhero who looked  like a clown.

2. Yuvvraaj

yuvvraaj

This movie is a warning from Salman Khan and Subhash Ghai that they cannot make even half decent movies, so you should stay away from them if you want to keep your sanity intact.

3. Tashan

tashan

Oscar requested the script of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi for their Archives. I say… Take the script of Tashan, and frame it on the wall with the title… How Not To Make a Movie.

4. Love Story 2050

lovestory2050

It must have been a Love Story for the love birds Harman Baweja and Priyanka Chopra, but for us it was Hate Story 2008. When we think twice before watching a Hrithik Roshan movie unless it is directed by some one like Ashutosh Gowariker, why would we take the trouble of watching his duplicate who thinks it is a crime to move his facial muscles? Okay, I watched it because I have to make this list.

5. Karzzzz

karzzzz

The original Karz was a mediocre movie, but Himesh Reshammiya and Satish Kaushik have taken mediocrity to insane level. Himesh and Satish should be arrested for making such a terrible movie. Actors association of Bollywood should ban Shweta Kumar for being an insult to acting. Urmila Matondkar should be caged in the idiot box.

6. Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic
Neither there was Pyar nor Magic in this Saif, Rani and Amisha starrer circus. Rani is done and she needs to quit movies and marry her long time media shy boyfriend Aditya Chopra. Amisha needs to know that wearing yellow bikinis is not acting. Saif would continue to do his regular stupid roles, so can’t give him any advices. Kunal Kohli should get back to hosting movie review shows.

7. Mission Istanbul
What happens when the worst actors come together in a movie? It becomes Mission Istanbul.

8. Heroes
Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Salman Khan and Sohail Khan in one movie… yeah, it’s time to run for cover.

9. Golmaal Returns
I don’t know what makes people laugh. The worst comedy movie I have ever seen in my life is a Blockbuster. Probably people flocked to the theaters to see how stupid a comedy movie could be. It’s not that I don’t like slapstick humor, but Golmaal Returns is not even that. I would call it ‘No Laughs Humor’.

10. God Tussi Great Ho
Even I said God Tussi Great Ho looking above, because I’m still able to live my normal life after watching such a horrible movie. The makers say that the movie is bad because it was made 4 years back and all that crap. This movie is another example of bad acting, bad script, bad direction, bad sets, bad music, bad camera work, bad choreography, bad, bad, bad….

Phew…it was hard job picking just 10, because there are at least dozen more.

Keep checking BollyNewz… we will soon bring Top 10 Best Movies, Actors, Actresses, Composers, Albums, Songs and more…

Top Ten Worst Bollywood Albums in 2008

2008 gave some good Bollywood Music Albums, but it also gave some of the worst ever.
After listening to every album released in 2008, we have come up with this list.

Here is BollyNewz Top Ten Worst Bollywood Albums in the year 2008.
(The following crap is in no particular order)

Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic

thoda pyar thoda magic

With the names involved in this film, one would expect the music to be at the very least listenable. But nope, SEL completely lose their way in this sorry excuse for an album. Well, Lazy Lamhe wasn’t bad.

Drona

drona

Drona’s music was so bad, it shocked the world. Not to be outdone, so did the movie…

Roadside Romeo

roadside romeo

Yash Chopra worked hard to make a name for Yash Raj films. Now the son is effing everything up with films like this. With every release of a Yash Raj film, the music keeps getting worse. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was the only saving grace for this once graceful banner.

God Tussi Great Ho

god tussi great ho

We have to admit, the hai hai…hai hai hai’s were initially really catchy in Tujhe Aksa Beach…but that song gets old fast and the rest is usual Salman Khan crap…this guy regularly bashes Himesh yet he never has good music in his own films…maybe its cause of his loyalty to Sajid-Wajid?

Money Hai To Honey Hai

money hai toh honey hai

Govinda never has critically acclaimed music in his films but he always has catchy songs which appeal to masses. That streak ends here!

Good Luck

good luck

This album tried so hard to get lucky that they even had a song sung by Lucky Ali in it…but with no luck.

Jimmy

jimmy

Mithunda’s son Mimoh made a debut in Bollywood with this film…and in my opinion no star son has ever been launched with music this bad. Even Tusshar Kapoor had good music in Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai!

Krazzy 4

krazzy-4

Rajesh Roshan was a great music director. But sadly, this album proves that he has nothing left.

Dhoom Dhadaka

dhoom dhadaka

It was laughable at how hard the title song tried to sound like something worthy. Hopefully Roop Kumar Rathod will never compose again.

Contract

contract

As with all Ram Gopal Verma movies, the music should be avoided at all costs. He apparently lost his hearing and/or music sense in 2001.

It was tough picking just 10 out of countless horrible albums that were released in 2008, so we compiled the above list on the basis of hype and general audience expectations.

Big B Caught Carrying a Gun at Airport

Amitabh Bachchan was caught carrying a gun in his hand baggage at Mumbai Airport. The police claim that he was carrying a Gun which had a different number from his license. Finally, Big B gave up his gun, and flew to Pune to film a Bollywood movie Teen Patti.

amitabh bachchan arrest

I respect Amitabh Bachchan as an actor, but how on earth did he think that he can carry a gun on a plane. The police are complaining about the registration number crap, but what about the main issue? As far as I know, a civilian can not carry a weapon while flying.
If it was some normal person, like you and me, he would have been behind the bars in no time… Big B was let to fly without any delay.
Indian police should be lauded for their effort!

Priyanka Chopra dating scottish actor?

It’s raining men in Priyanka Chopra's life. After her on-and-off relationship with Harman Baweja, and, rumours of her growing closeness with Shahid Kapur, there are murmurs in the industry that Priyanka is bonding big time with Scottish actor Gerard Butler (of 300 and P.S. I Love You, f a m e ) . Priyanka and Gerard first met at the inauguration of Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai’s latest iconic luxury resort, in November 2008. The two have been in regular touch with other. A friend of Priyanka tells Mumbai Mirror, “Since November, Priyanka and Gerard have kept in touch via phone calls and SMSes.”

According to sources, Priyanka and Gerard had actually hit it off at the party hosted by Shah Rukh Khan in Dubai, soon after the inauguration of the luxury resort. Today, Priyanka and Gerard share a deep bond.
Priyanka’s official spokesperson did not deny the ‘dostana’ between Priyanka and Gerard. She said, “Priyanka and Gerard hit it off really well in Dubai and have maintained their friendship ever since.’

Buzz is that Priyanka and Gerard recently had lunch and coffee together in Chicago where Priyanka was shooting for Ashutosh Gowariker’s What’s Your Rashee? Though Priyanka’s official spokesperson refused to confirm this, a friend of Priyanka tells us that the couple did spend some quality time together. “A couple of Priyanka’s cousins who stay in Chicago accompanied Priyanka and Gerard.”

P.S.: Harman Baweja and Shahid Kapur, are you listening? As for Gerard, he has been linked to many women including, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Aniston, and Naomi Campbell.

Juhi Chawla: SRK, Preity wanted the same player on board

If you believe that a woman has no place in sports, Juhi Chawla would love to prove you wrong. The actor, who lights up the screen with her smile, is also the proud co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders. After the recently-concluded IPL auction in Goa, we caught Juhi enjoying a relaxed Sunday on the banks of the Ganges at Raichak. When we asked her about Kolkata, an excited Juhi said. “I want to come back to Kolkata and spend some time, soaking in the essence of the wonderful city.”

The actor also had to field a lot of questions on her IPL team. And, of course, now with Mashrafe Mortaza donning the KKR jersey we were curious to know why they gave the other big names in the window a miss. “We wanted a bowler. Mortaza is also an allrounder. Moreover, Kolkatans will love to have someone from the neighbouring country,” she explained. Prod her more on this and she comes out with an honest confession, “We had limited resources at hand.”

But how does she justify coughing up roughly Rs 3 crore for the Bangladeshi allrounder? “The price was through auction and in auctions there are no scripts. I would say it is Mortaza’s destiny to be a part of the KKR team. And it is just a coincidence that SRK and Preity wanted the same player on board,” she said clearing the air on the SRK-Preity tussle.

The actor, who got critical acclaim for her role in the film Luck by Chance, was also upbeat about her career in the movies. “I’m reading a lot of scripts but I am really impressed with new-age directors like Onir, Sujoy Ghosh, Farhan and Zoya. If some good script comes my way, I will do it,” she said. And what about Bengali cinema? “My doors are always open to good roles. I’m a director’s actor and if there is a good script, then I’m open to acting in Bengali movies as well,” she said. Juhi is also learning music. “Singing is like meditation for me,” she explained.

And now with the new IPL season set to begin, she sure will need a lot of it. On the reported difference of opinion between the captain and the coach, she said, “In a team you have ups and downs. But I am not supposed to talk about all this. Everyone has a role to play in the team.” And what is her role? “Arrey bhai, I’m the glamorous owner,” she answered with a smile.

Weekly Box Office Report: Billu is below average

Shah Rukh Khan’s Billu opened with 35% to 45% collections on Friday, which is certainly low for a Shah Rukh Khan film. Perhaps the audience had a fair idea that Irrfan plays the lead. The figures were comparatively better over the weekend but dropped again on Monday. The coming days will prove Billu’s fate at the box-office.

The other two releases were much smaller in comparison to Billu and even in itself since they lacked star value or publicity factor. Kay Kay Menon starrer The Stoneman Murders despite being a decent effort couldn’t get a good opening. Manoj Bajpai’s Jugaad was outright rejected

A.R RAHMAN'S Road to Oscars II - Mani Ratnam's Midas touch

One man who needs all credit for spotting the musical talent in Rahman is director Mani Ratnam. Today Rahman has grown leaps and bounds ready to lay his hands on the coveted Oscars thanks to the seeds sown by Mani Ratnam. One man who will be really proud if Rahman wins the Oscars would be Mani Ratnam.

All Mani Ratnam's films starting from 'Roja' in 1992 have musical compositions by Rahman and the director now shares a special bonding with him.

Speaking about Rahman, he said, "I have worked with two very classy composers - Illayaraja and Rahman. Both are from two different schools of musical composition. While Illayaraja is more spontaneous in his response, Rahman takes time to think over tunes, story, situation and the labors over it,' he said. According to him, Rahman, if pushed a little, is willing to think laterally.

With Thalapathi, Mani Ratnam ended his association with music director Illaiyaraja, bringing in Rahman. It turned out to be Mani's greatest findings.

A quiet Rahman in spite of his tall achievements is still humble and down-to-earth. Rahman said, 'I feel my slate is yet to be written on. There is life beyond music, album or record sales.'

Mani Ratnam and Rahman's partnership is widely regarded as having produced some of the best film music in Indian movies since 1990s.

* Roja (Tamil) - 1992

* Thiruda Thiruda (Tamil) - 1993

* Bombay (Tamil) - 1995
